Assessment centrum 2.12. 2004
Our company prepared one of the modern methods in human resources field - Assessment centrum - to choose new foremen between our current workers. This method is based on getting hard and soft data which means that we can find personal aspects about our employees but also what they are able to do, how's their potential etc.
What does Assessment centrum mean?
There is a group of people which are tested for same or very similar working position and there are more testing methods used there. This people are evaluated by a team of proffesional persons including some psychologist so that such an evaluate is more objective.
The group of our potential employees are tested in various situations and tasks somehow similar with their potential job, in which they show their abilities, characteristics and skills.
What do we evaluate?
During the whole day, our candidates are put in difficult arranged situations. They must handle structured interviews, writing tests examing logical thinking, memory, communication ability, technical and spatial thinking.
Other part is is teamwork task, where we evaulate especially characteristics and abilities shown only during such a temaworking.
Because of so many items which are tested, we can objectively evaluate each person's strong and week characteristics and thanks to that, we can say who's the right person for that position we're looking for.
Result?
We think that such a method is very useful not only for company but also for our employees, who can try how do they behave in various situation so that they can learn more about themselves as well.
For our company the result was, that we found a new foremen assistant and we thing that everyone liked such an event. So that we're now already preparing another Assessment centrum and we hope it will be so successful as this first one was
