On Saturday, March 19, 2016, a worldwide Earth Hour event took place.
The Earth Hour is organized by the World Wildlife Fund and aims to raise people's awareness of climate change and to encourage individuals, companies and governments around the world to take responsibility for their ecological footprint. The symbolism of this event is turning-off the lights for one hour.
The history of this event dates back to 2007, when the first major turning-off lights took place in Sydney, Australia, where 2.2 million households and companies turned off lights to express their attitudes to climate change. In 2008, more than 50 million people in 35 countries joined the event, and in following years, Earth Hour has reached up to 178 countries as of today.
We, as Daikin Industries Czech Republic Ltd., also joined Earth Hour and switched off street lighting. The following photographs show a view of Daikin before and during Earth Hour.
We are glad that some employees joined us during Earth Hour at their homes.
