Daikin Emura III

The third generation of Daikin Emura units comes with a new design. It targets customers who not only expect flawless functionality from their home appliances, but also want their home furnishings to reflect their own style and aesthetic sense.

The Emura III unit, which follows on from the Emura and Emura II units was developed by engineers at DICZ EDC (R&D). Their goal was to develop a unit as well as improve user comfort. Control of the unit has been moved towards an online solution through a mobile application integrating smart home principles.

Our engineers improved not only the design, but also the energy efficiency in heating mode.

The heat boost function and humidity sensor were newly built into the units. The operational limit of the units has been extended up to -20 ⁰C. Thanks to design changes, the indoor unit has been reduced by almost 10 cm. For the outdoor unit, the design of the front visible plastic part has been improved for a change.

As part of this project, colleagues from R&D went through all the essential parts of the development process, the production of prototypes and their testing in various stages of the development cycle, the verification of the functionality of the designed parameters, the creation of complete drawing documentation and parts list, and the tuning of the production process took place. In order for the indoor units to pass the drop tests, the parameters of the polystyrene package had to be adjusted through design changes.

With further design modifications, the development team had to ensure that the new discharge grill for the outdoor unit passed the safety 'finger' test and also modified the tooling to produce the front plastic panel of the indoor unit.

Today, the Emura III unit is receiving great responses in the market, and it has also won several design awards, e.g. Red Dot, If Award or Good Design Award.
