Following the success of the Optimized Heating 4 (OH4) outdoor unit range launched in 2017, Daikin has decided to develop the next generation of Optimized Heating 5 (OH5) with a focus on higher specifications, more intelligent features and a wider portfolio of connectable indoor units.
Primarily aimed at the Scandinavian market, this unit is designed to operate down to -30°C and provides high heating capacity at lower temperatures. The unit features an improved condensate drain system incorporating a drain pan heater to prevent the unit from frosting. Daikin guarantees best-in-class performance with efficiency ratings of up to A+++ in heating, making the OH5 a smart energy-saving device.

During the development of the OH5, our engineers faced many technical challenges. For example, it was necessary to re-adjust the defrost system control and the expansion valve logic control to achieve greater comfort for the end customer. From a design perspective, it has been problematic to fine-tune the shape of the bottom frame, the shape and performance of the drain pan heater, and the drain pan heater control logic. The requirements for the lowest possible system consumption and at the same time sufficient drain pan heater performance were at odds with each other. A series of tests were carried out in sub-zero temperatures and high humidity, when working with different shapes of the bottom frame, drain pan heater shapes, defrost cycle settings, drain pan heater performances and operation durations. Thanks to them, the entire system was finally set up ideally.
This outdoor unit can be combined with indoor units such as Emura, Stylish, Perfera, Comfora or Floor Standing, and all in silent mode, because the OH5 units have a specially designed fan to optimize airflow for high performance at low noise levels.

The unit features the “Weather Compensation” function, which helps to balance the heat loss of the house at lower outdoor temperatures. The built-in filter of the indoor units for air purification uses Flash Streamer technology, which is patented by Daikin, thanks to which harmful particles such as allergens, bacteria, viruses or odours are eliminated in the air.
Also new is the ability to connect to the cloud, thanks to which the unit can be remotely monitored by experienced technicians, allowing remote support and troubleshooting without the need for a visit.
